Kids will love planning a trip to Mars and setting up the first human colony. They’ll learn about the famous red plant, its place in the universe and how it compares with Earth. They’ll need to design rocket plans and get their heads around propulsion, while building a rover to traverse the rough terrain. As they plan their colony they’ll work out what people need to live, and the vital role played by oxygen. They’ll work together to decide what to bring with them and take a crash course in working with seeds to grow plants for survival on the inhospitable landscape. Once on Mars kids will gain an understanding of how craters form and they’ll track temperatures on the icy planet, all the while figuring out how gravity works so they can build houses that can function in the rare atmosphere and cultivate the food they’ll need to thrive. This engaging, super interactive camp builds a range of skills including; numeracy, literacy, enquiry, teamwork, communication, planning, experimenting, and cognitive skills. 100% play-based intentional learning.
